Why Go On Mission?

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

The Great Commission, Matthew 28:18-20

Missions are local and global efforts to spread the gospel, plant churches, and provide humanitarian support and service where it's needed, all in the name of Jesus.

Jesus specifically sent his disciples to do these very things, and he asks us to continue on with this Great Commission throughout the Bible.

Missions have been ongoing for more than 2,000 years and are needed now as much as ever.

59% (4.6 B) of the world's population is unreached

Without missionary efforts, these people have little to no chance of hearing the gospel within their lifetime. Lostness is the world's greatest problem, and God has appointed us to serve Him in changing that.

3,072 people groups with no gospel access

Linguistic, cultural, geographical, and political barriers impede entire populations from ever hearing the good news. Vast efforts are being made to reach every single one of these peoples, provide missionary presence as well as scriptures in their native tongues, and encourage them to continue spreading the Word.

Each day 173,451 people die without Christ

The main goal of missions is that people come to know and accept the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. With your support, missionaries are sent across the globe to help all of those who need it find eternal salvation. Reaching the nations is as important now as it ever has been, and we are at the forefront of this uphill battle.

After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”  Revelation 7:9-10

The Importance of Helping

"He who plants and he who waters are one..."

(1 Corinthians 3:8)

Missionary success is dependent in no small part on a support network holding the ropes for them as they venture out into the nations, preparing and enabling them to dive fully into their work. Senders and goers play equally as important roles in the mission, and we are all called to contribute in fulfilling the Great Commission.

We live with generosity in response to Jesus' generosity to us. The greatest gift we have is our salvation, and knowing this should inspire us to live in a spirit of, "Lord, do whatever you will with me." The offerings of any kind that we make are an overflow of gratitude to Jesus, thanks to whom we became spiritually rich in Christ.

How Can I Help?

Pray

Prayer works.

Please pray that the Lord would raise up laborers to go out into the field and spread the gospel among the nations, especially in unreached areas or places with minimal missionary presence.

Set aside intentional time every day to ask the Lord to provide for those who go and to guide them on their journey, keeping them safe and giving them the opportunities they need. Pray that He will go ahead of them and ready the hearts of the people they will encounter to hear the gospel. Lastly, please pray that these efforts are fruitful and bring about a revival in the nations.

And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. (Mark 11:22-24)

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”  Romans 10:14-15
